Precision Tone Shaping
Four fully parametric bands allow for precise control over frequencies, enabling engineers to enhance warmth, clarity, and depth in their mixes with ±20 dB gain per band.
The Neve 88R LBEQ is a four‑band fully parametric 500‑series equaliser that delivers ±20 dB gain per band, ultra‑low distortion (<0.004 % THD+N), a dynamic range exceeding 107 dB and a headroom of +27.2 dBu at 1 kHz, all housed in a compact chassis built to Neve’s legendary 88RS console standards.
Neve reproduces the analogue circuitry of the iconic 88RS console, preserving the sonic pedigree trusted by Abbey Road, AIR Studios and The Village. Engineers benefit from the same circuit behaviour and musical response that defined the original desk, now condensed into a single‑slot module. The design retains the classic low‑phase‑shift characteristic while adding contemporary features such as switchable standard or resonant shelving, wide‑range sweepability and a fully adjustable Q (0.3 – 7).
Low Band – Foundation, Weight and Impact. The low band sweeps from 33 Hz to 440 Hz, delivering up to ±20 dB of gain. Users select standard or resonant shelving and choose between wide or narrow bell curves, allowing them to add depth to kick drums, tighten low‑mid build‑up or carve space in dense mixes.
Low‑Mid Band – Warmth, Body and Depth. Covering 120 Hz to 2 kHz, this band offers full gain control and a Q range of 0.3 to 7. Engineers enhance warmth in toms, brass and guitars, or surgically remove boxiness, mud and resonance, providing versatile tone‑building and problem‑solving capabilities.
High‑Mid Band – Presence, Clarity and Expression. Spanning 0.8 kHz to 9 kHz, the high‑mid band adds definition where the ear is most sensitive. Users dial in vocal presence, add bite to electric guitars, sharpen snare transients or refine spoken‑word intelligibility, delivering precise focus without harshness.
High Band – Air, Shine and High‑End Precision. The high band sweeps from 1.5 kHz to 18 kHz with ±20 dB of gain. Switchable standard or resonant shelves and bell options let users sculpt crisp transients, add airy brilliance to strings and overheads, smooth harshness or polish an entire mix with subtle top‑end refinement.
Neve engineers the module to meet exacting standards: input impedance around 24 kΩ, output impedance near 50 Ω, power draw under 145 mA and dimensions of 132 mm × 38 mm × 145 mm. The unit achieves a frequency response within ±0.1 dB, noise floor of –88 dBu (–117 dBu bypassed) and maintains robust headroom, ensuring reliable operation in demanding studio environments.
