The Nordic Audio NU-24K is a high-performance, large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed for exceptional clarity and character across a wide frequency range, offering a frequency response of 17Hz to 27kHz, a sensitivity of 18mV/Pa, and capable of handling 136dB SPL before clipping.
Unique Capsule Design
The NU-24K incorporates the proprietary D100K capsule, a 30mm edge-terminated large diaphragm that eliminates many of the resonant issues typical of conventional condenser microphone capsules. This results in a natural, transparent, and wide-range frequency capture, ideal for everything from vocals to acoustic instruments.
FloFET™ Circuitry
The microphone uses a proprietary FloFET™ amplifier circuit that achieves a unique tonal blend—delivering the smoothness and flattering characteristics of a high-end tube microphone while maintaining the precision, transient response, and low noise performance of a transformerless solid-state design. Unlike traditional tube or transformer circuits, the FloFET™ requires no high-voltage power supply or maintenance.
Modern Reliability
Built entirely around solid-state electronics and powered by standard 48V phantom power at 3.5mA, the NU-24K avoids the fragility and upkeep associated with valve-based designs. It is ideally suited to both studio and mobile setups due to its robust construction and low-output impedance, which ensures compatibility with all professional and consumer-grade preamps.
Sound Signature and Use Case
With a cardioid to supercardioid polar pattern (frequency dependent), this microphone delivers focused directionality while retaining room tone where desired. Its sonic character has been compared to a hybrid of the classic ELAM 251 and Neumann U47 microphones, offering a lush, detailed and powerful sound profile at a significantly more accessible price point—similar to the Neumann TLM103.
Build and Dimensions
Weighing 380 grams and measuring 192 x 38 mm, the NU-24K is compact yet solidly engineered. It is hand-crafted in Finland, reflecting the build quality expected from high-end Nordic engineering.
