The Pope Audio Pre-BX is a 500 series Class A/B microphone preamplifier featuring an API-style input transformer, Carnhill output transformer, and an integrated Baxandall EQ, delivering up to 60dB of analogue gain with musical warmth, clarity, and control.

Analogue Tone and Transformer Character

The Pre-BX provides full-fat analogue tone inspired by classic transformer-based preamps. The API-style input transformer ensures fast transient response and solid low-end definition, while the Carnhill output transformer introduces rich harmonic depth. The 1:1/3:1 output attenuator allows the user to drive the output stage harder for enhanced transformer saturation and weight, ideal for adding analogue character to vocals, instruments, and percussive sources.

Integrated Baxandall EQ

The Pre-BX includes a front-panel Hi-Z input for direct instrument recording, a phase switch for polarity correction, +48V phantom power for condenser microphones, and an internal impedance selector for optimum performance with low-output dynamics and ribbons.
