The UCX II is ideal as a studio hub or as a powerful portable field recorder while the TotalMix software lets you mix, monitor and measure anywhere. This makes it an ideal interface for high-quality studio and live recordings.
Extensive Analogue and Digital Connectivity
Despite its diminutive half-rack size, the UCX II provides a wide range of connections including two high-grade Mic/Line preamps, two digitally-controlled Line/Instrument inputs and four analogue balanced line inputs at the rear. 6 DC-coupled analogue balanced analogue outputs also grace this audio interface and can serve for 5.1 monitoring, adding external hardware processing or even talk to a modular synthesizer via CV.
On the digital side, this USB 2.0 interface includes eight channels of ADAT I/O, AES/EBU and S/PDIF I/O. In addition, MIDI I/O is included via the two 5-pin DIN connectors and switchable word clock to sync other digital processors.
Full Stand-alone Functionality
Its convenient front panel provides clear and convenient access to all features. The four keys and the large encoder enable rapid change of settings configuration. Internal memory also lets you store up to 6 different states of the unit that can then be easily accessed. As a result, the interface can be run in a full standalone mode without being connected to a computer or iPad. What’s more, TotalMix also responds to MIDI controls allowing for precise settings via MIDI devices.
Direct-to-Disk Recording with DURec
The UCX II includes Direct USB Recording (DURec) functionality which lets you record all fourty inputs and outputs directly to USB drives up to 2TB, transforming your interface into a standalone field recorder completely independent from your MAC, PC or iPad.
It can also function as a powerful multichannel live player which can be used for virtual soundchecks.
Class Compliant interface
The UCX II offers two different modes, a driver-based USB2 mode and Class Compliant modes. The latter mode offers native support on all DAW including MacOS, Windows and Linux, as well as iOS devices. It doesn’t require proprietary drivers and is directly recognised by the device. In this mode, some features will be missing in comparison to when used with the RME driver.
