The Rodec BUNK 01 - Bamboo / Jet Black is a dual discrete phono and line preamplifier with precision analogue EQ, engineered for modern vinyl culture with uncompromising build quality and sonic performance.
Dual Phono Preamp Design
The BUNK 01 incorporates two independent phono stages within one compact chassis, allowing users to instantly switch between different sonic characteristics. The first stage draws directly from the legendary MX180 design, delivering an immediate, punchy and energetic sound, ideal for dynamic playback. The second stage is a newly developed discrete circuit by Rodec, offering a more refined, spacious and relaxed sonic signature, ideal for deep listening sessions. Both phono inputs are designed for moving magnet (MM) cartridges with an input impedance of 47 kOhm and capacitance of 200 pF.
Precision Gain Control
Users can adjust the gain from 45 dB at the centre position up to 65 dB for phono sources, ensuring compatibility with both standard and lower-output vinyl pressings. The line input offers gain adjustment from 0 dB to 20 dB, providing flexible level matching across different source materials.
Current Feedback and Split RIAA Equalisation
The phono stages operate with current feedback architecture and split RIAA equalisation, achieving high accuracy with a RIAA curve flat to within approximately 0.3 dB. The frequency response extends from 9 Hz to 75 kHz with minimal deviation, ensuring precise low-frequency extension and open high-frequency detail.
True Analogue Equalisation Inspired by MX-18
The integrated three-band EQ is modelled on the iconic MX-18 and avoids the harsh kill-switch approach found in conventional DJ mixers. The EQ provides musical tone shaping with ±12 dB of adjustment at low (100 Hz), mid (1 kHz) and high (10 kHz) frequencies, allowing users to subtly sculpt warmth, presence and clarity across the audio spectrum.
Handcrafted Belgian Construction
Every BUNK 01 is meticulously assembled in Belgium using durable, high-grade materials. The front panel consists of 2 mm thick aluminium finished in RAL9005 Jet Black, providing rigidity and a sleek aesthetic. Solid metal knobs offer precise control with satisfying tactile feedback.
Sustainable Wooden Housing
The enclosure features eco-friendly solid bamboo panels, crafted by Belgian furniture maker Eletta Daemen, combining modern sustainability with artisanal woodworking. This design results in a compact footprint measuring 95 mm wide, 85 mm high and 210 mm deep, with an overall weight of 800 grams.
