The Rodec BUNK 01 - Walnut / Green is a dual discrete phono and line preamplifier with precision analogue EQ, engineered for high-fidelity vinyl playback with robust Belgian construction.
Dual Phono Stages with Switchable Character
The BUNK 01 features two completely independent phono stages designed for moving magnet cartridges. The first recreates the iconic MX180 circuit, delivering an immediate, punchy sound suited to dynamic, energetic playback. The second is a newly developed discrete stage by Rodec, designed for a deeper, more open sound with greater detail and tonal depth. Switching between both stages is instant, offering flexible voicing for different records and listening environments.
Accurate Gain Control for Vinyl and Line Sources
Phono gain ranges from 45 dB to 65 dB at 1 kHz, providing compatibility with standard or lower-output records. The line preamp offers adjustable gain from 0 dB to 20 dB for consistent signal matching across sources. The input impedance is set at 47 kOhm with 200 pF capacitance, ideal for MM cartridges, while the output impedance of 220 Ohms ensures seamless system integration.
Current Feedback and Precise RIAA Equalisation
Using a current feedback design combined with split RIAA equalisation, the BUNK 01 achieves exceptional accuracy, with an RIAA curve flat to within 0.3 dB. Frequency response extends from 9 Hz to 75 kHz, ensuring precise low-frequency control and transparent high-frequency detail without distortion or colouration.
Three-Band Analogue EQ Inspired by the MX-18
The EQ section offers musical tone shaping with ±12 dB adjustment at 100 Hz for bass, 1 kHz for midrange presence, and 10 kHz for treble. Unlike conventional DJ mixers with aggressive kill EQs, the MX-18 inspired circuit provides refined, responsive control for subtle or pronounced tonal adjustments.
Hand-Built Belgian Construction with Premium Materials
Each BUNK 01 is assembled by hand in Belgium, using a rigid 2 mm aluminium front panel finished in RAL9005 Jet Black and fitted with durable solid metal controls. The enclosure is crafted from solid eco-friendly bamboo, hand-finished by furniture maker Eletta Daemen, combining technical durability with natural aesthetics.
