Dynamic Sound Shaping
Utilize voltage control and audio-reactive modulation to dynamically shape sound, allowing for evolving timbral changes directly from your source material for unique audio experiences.
The Rodec Ministyler Sherman Filterbank for 500 Series is a stereo analogue filter and drive module that merges Sherman’s legendary multimode filter design with voltage control, audio-reactive modulation, and full 500 Series compatibility.
Developed by Rodec in collaboration with Sherman, the Ministyler delivers authentic, voltage-controllable analogue filtering within a stereo signal path. Engineers can shape sound using control voltage or audio-derived modulation, driving evolving timbral changes directly from the source material. Its Frequency Modulation (FM) input reacts dynamically to incoming signals, creating constantly shifting tones that can be beat-synchronised or self-modulated for intricate rhythmic movement.
At the heart of the Ministyler lies the same circuitry that made the original Sherman Filterbank an icon. Users can morph smoothly between low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass responses with selectable 12dB or 24dB slopes. Fully self-oscillating resonance allows the filter to act as a standalone tone generator or to create screaming harmonic peaks, offering both surgical control and musical chaos in a single module.
A dedicated analogue drive stage introduces harmonic warmth and saturation, giving engineers the means to add punch, body, and grit to any signal. The integrated makeup gain maintains level consistency, while the dry/wet blend control enables exact parallel processing. This design allows subtle tonal enhancement or full-bodied distortion, ideal for creative sound design or performance.
Optimised for 500 Series integration via the Rodec K7 Adapter, the Ministyler connects directly into any 500 Series chassis or Rodec MX Modular console. It provides stable power distribution and low-noise performance while maintaining the sonic purity of its analogue path. Its full CV connectivity and stereo I/O allow seamless integration into hybrid modular systems, offering endless routing and modulation possibilities.
