The Rupert Neve Designs 545 is a single channel 500-series module designed to provide natural feedback reduction without negative impact and add focus to the sound source.
The Rupert Neve Designs 545 Primary Source Enhancer uses the same circuitry as its bigger brother the Portico 5045 which has been used on countless tours and arenas around the world. It works by reducing the gain when the signal falls below the selected threshold. Unlike noise gates which are traditional reactive designs, the 545 uses dedicated predictive and adaptive technologies to perform. The result is an increase of signal before feedback by up to 20dB.
The 545 is entirely analogue ensures outstanding control and sonic performance with no compromise in the sonic integrity of the signal. With its intuitive and simple controls, the 545 lets you remove unwanted feedback or reverb in no time. It starts with the Engage illuminated button which engages or bypasses the unit. Below is a LED to indicate when a signal crosses the threshold. The only two potentiometers are Threshold and Depth controlling the point of engagement and the amount of effect. The Fast control lets you choose between two time-constants from slower attack and release (Off) for most general applications to the super fast and active in between words or syllables in dynamic sources or passages. Finally, a Peak button lets you choose between Peak and RMS detection modes which affect the sidechain detection circuit behaviour.
