Despite its reduced size, it retains the essential components that define the signature Rupert Neve Designs tone. By housing its circuitry in a rugged, road-ready steel enclosure, the unit ensures durability in both studio and live environments.

Superior Transformer-Coupled Performance

At the heart of the RNDI-M is a custom-wound Rupert Neve Designs transformer, engineered to provide exceptional passive isolation while adding musical harmonics and depth to the audio signal. The low-impedance, transformer-balanced output ensures stable performance over long cable runs, maintaining signal integrity and preventing tonal degradation, a critical feature for both stage and studio applications.

Class-A Discrete FET Input for Sonic Purity

The RNDI-M’s class-A, discrete FET input stage operates on +48V phantom power, delivering a high-impedance input of 2.2MΩ to preserve the natural dynamics and tone of any instrument. Unlike designs that introduce crossover distortion, this circuit topology eliminates undesirable upper-order odd harmonics, producing a harmonically rich, musical response dominated by second-order (octave) and third-order (fifth above octave) harmonics. By avoiding integrated circuits (ICs) and digital components, the RNDI-M maintains an entirely analogue, high-fidelity signal path.

Extended Frequency Response and Massive Headroom

With an exceptionally wide frequency response extending from below 5Hz to over 90kHz, the RNDI-M reproduces every nuance of an instrument’s sound with remarkable accuracy. Its frequency response remains flat within ±0.25dB from 28Hz to 60kHz, ensuring a deep, defined low end and articulate highs. The headroom of +20.5dBu allows the unit to handle high-output sources such as electric guitars, basses, keyboards, synthesizers, drum machines, and even pre-recorded material without distortion or compression, making it a versatile tool for any signal chain.

Optimised Signal Transmission and Versatile Connectivity

A high-quality 1/4” THRU output enables simultaneous connection to an amplifier while preserving signal integrity. The low-impedance transformer-coupled output, measuring below 40Ω, efficiently drives long cable runs without compromising frequency response. A ground lift switch on the rear panel isolates pin 1 of the XLR balanced output from the circuit ground, effectively eliminating unwanted hum and noise caused by ground loops.
