Overview

ATC created the SCS120iW Pro to combine the precision of its classic sealed subwoofer designs with modern installation flexibility for flush-mount control rooms. The unit features a newly developed 15-inch bass driver that uses a high-power neodymium motor and a highly linear long-throw suspension to deliver cleaner output, higher efficiency and significantly lower distortion across the full bass spectrum. Installed within a 120-litre sealed enclosure, the driver reaches 20 Hz at minus 6 dB and improves efficiency by 3 dB compared to the 12-inch SCS70 Pro. ATC shaped the cabinet so that its width aligns with the SCM150AiW Pro, which preserves visual uniformity while also positioning partnered monitors at an optimal mix height.

In-Wall Design and Remote Amplification

Engineers who prefer fully flush control room layouts can mount the SCS120iW Pro directly into the wall, where its square-edge baffle integrates cleanly with studio architecture. ATC supplies the system with the R1-300 Pro remote 19-inch 7U amplifier, which users can mount inside a wall cavity or in a standard rack. NL4 and 5-pin XLR connections provide secure, reliable links between the amplifier and the subwoofer, allowing flexible positioning without compromising signal integrity.

Driver and Mechanical Performance

The newly engineered 15-inch driver forms the heart of the SCS120iW Pro. The neodymium motor offers strong magnetic control with low moving mass, while the long-throw suspension allows the cone to maintain linear travel even under high sound-pressure conditions. This design reduces low-frequency distortion, increases clarity and ensures accurate translation of sub-bass information critical for modern mixing and mastering.

System Integration

ATC matched the cabinet width to the SCM150AiW Pro, creating a unified visual and acoustic presentation when both are mounted within the same wall system. The cabinet’s height positions the SCM150 monitors at a natural listening level, ensuring that the combined system behaves as a coherent monitoring environment. The SCS120iW Pro integrates seamlessly with larger ATC systems such as the SCM110A, SCM150A, SCM200A and SCM300A whenever a flush-mount approach is preferred.
