Compact and Powerful Design
The Oberheim TEO-5's compact format retains the full analogue architecture, delivering rich, powerful sounds without taking up much space in your studio or performance setup.
The Oberheim TEO-5 Desktop Module is a five-voice analogue synthesiser that delivers Oberheim’s renowned tone and modulation depth in a compact desktop format. Each voice features two voltage-controlled oscillators, a sub oscillator and a noise generator, providing lush, powerful and harmonically rich sounds. Oscillator sync, selectable triangle, saw and variable pulse waves, through-zero FM and switchable key tracking give users an expansive tonal range, while the authentic SEM filter morphs smoothly from low-pass through notch to high-pass, offering dynamic control during sound shaping or performance.
The TEO-5 uses the same core engine as the keyboard version, maintaining its full analogue signal path for warmth and clarity. Its SEM filter and DADSR envelopes provide precise sculpting over tone and amplitude, reacting expressively to velocity and keyboard tracking. The sub oscillator and noise generator add further depth and texture, making it suitable for pads, basses, leads or complex layered timbres.
A 19-slot modulation matrix with 19 sources and 64 destinations gives near-limitless flexibility. Users can assign LFOs, envelopes, velocity, aftertouch or audio-rate modulation to parameters such as filter cutoff, oscillator pitch or effect depth. The two LFOs, each with five waveforms and tempo sync, deliver rhythmic movement or evolving textures. Two five-stage envelopes extend traditional ADSR control, allowing more expressive sound transitions and detailed modulation control.
The built-in effects engine enhances creative sound design. A dedicated reverb with damping, pre-delay, decay and tone parameters provides ambience, while a second multi-effect processor includes chorus, flanger, phaser, ring modulation, delays, distortion, rotary speaker, Lo-Fi and high-pass filter effects. A separate overdrive circuit adds warmth and analogue grit. The 64-step polyphonic sequencer supports ties and rests for complex rhythmic structures, and the versatile arpeggiator includes multiple time divisions, octave ranges and play modes. Internal, tap-tempo and MIDI sync ensure perfect timing integration in both live and studio environments.
All parameters are accessible from the top panel, providing immediate tactile control. Manual mode ensures that the sound reflects the physical position of the controls, while performance features such as note hold, polyphonic glide and configurable unison mode deliver expressive flexibility. Connectivity includes stereo outputs, headphone output, MIDI In/Out/Thru, USB MIDI, and pedal inputs for volume and sustain. With 512 total patch slots (256 user and 256 factory programs), users can store and access an extensive sound library with direct recall.
