Sherman Dual Filterbank 2

The Sherman Dual Filterbank 2 is a 19-inch rackmount analogue filtering and distortion system that combines two Filterbank 2 units in one chassis, offering independent low-pass, band-pass and high-pass filters with resonance, frequency and ADSR control, alongside advanced modulation and overdrive options.

Dual Design and Enhanced Flexibility

By combining two Filterbank 2 units in a single rack, the Dual Filterbank 2 doubles the sound-shaping power while keeping all ports and controls on the front panel for fast integration in studio or live setups. Each side includes the full feature set of the Filterbank 2, allowing engineers to run them independently, in series or in combination with other modular equipment.

Improved Circuitry and Switch Options

The latest circuitry delivers greater fidelity and stability, complemented by an improved varnish finish for durability. Each unit incorporates five new switches, a dedicated footpedal input and two LEDs for instant status monitoring. A three-way input switch provides high boost and high cut options, while the Sensitrig and Limit switches reshape filter behaviour, enabling aggressive resonance and even self-oscillation at extreme input levels.

Analogue Filtering and Distortion Power

Each filterbank offers low-pass, band-pass and high-pass filters that operate in parallel or serial configuration. The second filter in each unit includes a six-octave range switch, which can lock to the first for advanced harmonic shaping. The ADSR generator includes an external output, enabling integration with additional filterbanks or modular rigs. The overdrive section features a VCA overdrive with AR generator and ring modulator input, while an FM input accepts audio, LFO or CV sources for extended modulation.

Advanced Control Functions

Retro-style colour-coded attenuators provide precise level adjustments. A three-way tracking switch introduces a monophonic pitch follower, tuning the second filter to the incoming pitch while making the first filter a slave via the harmonics switch. Normal and deep modes control the weight of the response, producing tight, punchy low-end for bass-heavy applications. The LFO section includes a three-way switch with sawtooth retrigger functionality, restarting the LFO from the AR trig for rhythmic modulation.

Studio and Stage Integration

The robust rackmount design ensures reliability for both stage and studio environments. MIDI I/O and front-mounted ¼-inch connections for audio, ADSR, trigger and modulation provide extensive connectivity. Clear LED indicators confirm filter tracking and effect activity, ensuring precise visual feedback during performance and production.
