The Sherman Filterbank 2 Classic is a compact modular analogue filter and distortion system featuring low pass, band pass and high pass filters, advanced control parameters and enhanced circuitry.

Improved Design and Circuitry

The Filterbank 2 Classic evolves from the original model with upgraded internal electronics, providing increased clarity, headroom and stability. The design introduces five additional switches, a dedicated footpedal input, two extra LEDs and a protective varnish finish. A three-way input switch enables high boost and high cut options, while new Sensitrig and Limit switches reshape filter behaviour, allowing extreme resonance and self-oscillation when pushed.

Powerful Filtering and Distortion

This unit offers flexible low pass, band pass and high pass filtering, each with resonance, frequency and ADSR controls that can operate in parallel or serial configuration. The second filter includes a six-octave range switch that synchronises with the first filter, extending tonal shaping possibilities. Its integrated ADSR generator has an external output, allowing control of additional modular units. The distortion stage includes a VCA overdrive with AR generator and a ring modulator input, while the FM input accepts audio, LFO or CV signals for complex modulation.

Comprehensive Control Options

Colour-coded retro-style attenuators provide accurate adjustment of levels, with multiple three-way switches extending control. The tracking function follows incoming pitch and tunes the second filter accordingly, with normal and deep modes for different tonal emphasis, locking via a dedicated LED. An LFO section with sawtooth retrigger capability further broadens modulation scope, while the harmonics switch lets the first filter follow the second for harmonically rich results.

Design and Connectivity

Engineered for studio and stage use, the Filterbank 2 Classic balances portability with durability. Its rear panel includes MIDI I/O alongside ¼-inch connections for main output, trigger, ADSR, signal input and other patch points. New LED indicators include a large green effect-active light and a white tracking lock light, offering instant visual feedback.
