High-Capacity Audio Processing
Handles up to 192 channels of bidirectional audio at sample rates up to 192 kHz, making it ideal for large-scale live sound, broadcast, and studio productions.
The Solid State Logic UMD192 is a high-capacity professional USB 3.0, Dante and MADI digital audio interface that provides up to 192 channels of bidirectional audio at sample rates up to 192 kHz for live sound, broadcast and high-channel-count studio production.
The SSL UMD192 delivers simultaneous bidirectional audio between USB, Dante and MADI, allowing any two formats to exchange audio directly while the third format receives a real-time split. This architecture enables complex routing systems for recording, playback and format conversion without additional hardware. Engineers can route MADI stage racks into Dante broadcast networks, record large multitrack sessions over USB or create mirrored network feeds with absolute stability.
The interface supports 192 channels at 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz, and 128 channels at 176.4 and 192 kHz. This channel density suits large broadcast trucks, theatre productions, festivals and immersive studio installations.
UMD192 delivers fully interoperable Dante audio networking with AES67 and ST 2110 support when used with Dante Domain Manager. The unit achieves network latencies as low as 0.25 ms, enabling real-time monitoring and synchronised broadcast workflows.
Four ruggedised Ethernet ports provide primary and secondary Dante connections with link and activity monitoring, supporting redundant network infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted audio transport in mission-critical environments.
Six MADI BNC port pairs allow the unit to operate as three dual-redundant MADI connections. This design supports large multi-device systems and broadcast redundancy workflows while maintaining clock stability across complex installations. UMD192 supports clocking from either Dante or MADI and operates across sample rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz, ensuring seamless integration with consoles, stage boxes and audio networks.
The UMD192 accepts AC mains, Power over Ethernet and USB power. Engineers can deploy the unit in fixed installations, mobile broadcast racks and remote production rigs. Power sources can operate independently or combine for redundancy, protecting live and broadcast workflows from unexpected power loss.
The front panel provides real-time visual feedback for signal flow, clock synchronisation, network status and power condition. A lockout function prevents accidental configuration changes during operation. Engineers can unlock the panel to select routing modes, clock sources and MADI redundancy options directly from the hardware without software intervention.
UMD192 operates as a class-compliant USB interface on macOS, enabling instant connectivity through Core Audio without driver installation. Windows systems use SSL multi-client ASIO drivers, allowing multiple professional applications to access the interface simultaneously for recording, mixing and playback.
The half-rack width and lightweight construction allow placement on desktops, inside broadcast racks or beside consoles. A rack-mount kit supports permanent installation while maintaining portability for touring and OB applications.
