Terry Audio SEQ
The Terry Audio SEQ is a professional stereo studio equaliser and line amplifier designed with a streamlined version of the CEQ Mastering Equaliser's topology. It features discrete amplification, a Class-A biased Line Amplifier, and meticulously selected components, all housed in a compact 2RU case for efficient and flexible use.
Design and Features
The SEQ incorporates the most essential frequency bands from the flagship CEQ, offering stereo controls that simplify daily operations. Its design retains the CEQ's high-quality discrete amplification, power supply, selected capacitors, and custom-wound inductors. The equaliser symbols indicate whether a control is set to boost (above the graphic) or cut (below the graphic), mirroring the symbols like low cut, mid cut, and high cut.
Line Amplifier
A newly developed deep Class-A biased Line Amplifier enhances the SEQ's sound profile, offering a slightly more distinct and transformative audio quality than the CEQ's transparent buffer amplifier. The Line Amplifier operates DC coupled from input to output, avoiding capacitors in the signal path. It is unique in its design and tailored specifically for the SEQ. This gain stage provides a range from -6dB to +14dB, adjustable in precise increments of less than 1dB, and can function independently of the EQ stage, enhancing versatility.
Operational Controls
Both the Line Amplifier and EQ sections feature true bypass via relays, ensuring clean signal integrity. The SEQ offers a direct, single-ended output when either section is active. The front panel includes two toggle switches: a crescent control for the Line Amplifier, with its level control positioned above, and a blue switch for the EQ section. The EQ stage automatically engages after the Line Amplifier, ensuring seamless operation. All controls are stepped, except for the Low Boost, which uses a carbon control for nuanced adjustments.
