The Universal Audio Apollo e1x is a single-channel, network-ready mic/line preamp designed for Dante audio systems, featuring Unison™ preamp modelling, Power-over-Ethernet operation, a 120 dB dynamic range, ultra-low 1 ms latency, combo XLR/¼" inputs, AES67 support, and the ability to link up to 16 units via Apollo x16D.
Overview
Engineered for seamless integration with Dante-enabled audio infrastructures, the Apollo e1x expands I/O capabilities with pristine, remote-controllable preamps. Tailored for professionals managing live sound, broadcast, or large-scale studio environments, the e1x provides ultra-clean signal capture and real-time software control via the UAD Console or Dante Controller.
Unison™ Technology and Legendary Analogue Sound
The Apollo e1x enables users to access the authentic character of classic analogue preamps—including revered models from API, Neve, Manley, and SSL—through its Unison™ technology. This advanced emulation platform modifies impedance and gain staging to replicate the exact behaviour of iconic analogue circuits.
Flexible Network Integration
Compatible with any Dante-enabled system, the Apollo e1x integrates seamlessly without requiring an Apollo x16D. For setups that do include the Apollo x16D, users gain full Unison support and tight DAW integration via Universal Audio’s ecosystem. It supports AES67 at 48 kHz and offers multiple configurable latencies, adjustable to 1 ms, 2 ms, or 5 ms via Dante Controller.
Remote Control and System Expansion
Each unit allows for full remote control over gain, phantom power, polarity inversion, and high-pass filtering, all from the UAD Console. Engineers can securely mount the e1x on standard 5/8" mic stands or daisy-chain multiple units with the included coupling bracket, creating a modular, space-efficient system.
Low Power, High Performance
Consuming just 4W via Power-over-Ethernet, the Apollo e1x delivers professional-grade audio performance while minimising cable clutter and power demands. This makes it an ideal choice for stages, studios, lecterns, and field applications requiring tamper-proof, decentralised preamp access.
Specifications and Design Highlights
With a dynamic range of 120 dB and a THD+N of –115 dB, the Apollo e1x ensures uncompromised clarity and detail. It supports sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 96 kHz and includes device-locking functionality via Dante Controller for secured installations.
