The Ex Machina Ganymede mkII is a high-performance, traditional near-field monitor ideal for smaller rooms and surround complements in an ATMOS system.

Design and Features

Building on the success of their Pulsar model, the Ganymede mkII retains the 3-way design of its predecessors but in a more compact and sleek form. It features a 7" LF driver and a 5.5" / 1" Coaxial Mid/Tweeter, providing excellent performance for near-field applications. Custom SEAS drivers, designed in collaboration with Composite Sound, include Metamodal TXTM mid-range and tweeter diaphragms. The acoustically inert, sealed Valchromat cabinets house Hypex Ncore amps and AKM AK5572EN & AK4493EQ conversion technology. Each speaker incorporates dedicated 5th generation SHARC DSP, offering higher computing headroom and advanced proprietary calibration technology. The Ganymede mkII delivers an ultra-wide sweet spot, linear phase and magnitude response, extremely low distortion, and exceptional transient response, ensuring clear and detailed audio for your mixes.

DSP and Converters

The 2nd generation DSP boards in the Ganymede mkII have seen improvements across the board. Flagship discrete AKM AK5572EN and AK4493EQ AD/DA chips and optimised clocking and analogue circuitry boost the S/N ratio to 123 dBa. Dedicated low-power AMTEL processors and new power regulation codes ensure safe shutdown behaviour under various fault conditions. The 5th generation SHARC+ AD21565 DSPs offer four times the computing power compared to previous models.

Calibration and Testing

Ex Machina's new multimillion-dollar facility, featuring Brooklyn's only hemi-anechoic chamber, has enabled further enhancement of proprietary calibration algorithms. The Ganymede mkII maintains phase linearity to ±15° down to 20 Hz and ±5° from 80 Hz to 30 kHz. It reproduces square waves cleanly, even at crossover frequencies, and can produce single-cycle tone bursts, as tested with an Audio Precision 555b Analyzer.

  • 3-way active monitor with a smaller, sleeker footprint than Pulsar and Quasar
  • 5th generation SHARC DSP per speaker deploying higher computing headroom and improved proprietary calibration technology
  • Flagship discrete AKM AK5572EN and AK4493EQ AD/DA chips and commensurately optimized clocking and analog circuitry improves the S/N ratio
  • Custom SEAS drivers with custom designed cutting edge diaphragm materials designed in collaboration with Composite Sound
  • Midrange range driver functions as optimized waveguide for the concentric tweeter
  • Ultra-wide sweet spot, linear phase and magnitude response, vanishingly low distortion and superb transient response
