Gyraf Audio
Based in Aarhus, Denmark, Gyraf Audio is the creation of engineer and designer Jakob Erland. Developed originally from equipment built for use within its own recording studios, Gyraf has evolved into one of Europe’s most distinctive boutique analogue manufacturers, with products including the G9 Dual Tube Preamp, G10 Vari-Mu Compressor, G14-S Parallel-Passive EQ, G21 Magneto-Dynamic Infundibulum, G22 Vari-Mu Compressor, G24 Passive Compressor and G25 VocalShape recording channel.
Gyraf’s design philosophy favours carefully tuned passive circuits, valve stages, transformers and minimal feedback, while incorporating solid-state technology where it serves the design.
Rather than simply recreating vintage processors, Jakob Erland develops original circuits with deliberately controllable analogue character, from passive inductor/capacitor equalisation and vari-mu valve compression to unusual designs such as the passive G21 soft clipper and G24 compressor.
Built in small quantities in Denmark, Gyraf equipment is aimed particularly at recording, mixing and mastering engineers looking for distinctive, musical analogue processing rather than conventional studio tools.
