All-Tube Signal Path
Experience the warmth and richness of an all-valve architecture, ensuring consistent analogue character throughout your recordings without the harshness of hybrid systems.
The Heritage Audio TUBESTRIP is a flagship all-valve recording channel strip that combines a tube microphone preamp, inductor EQ, Vari-Mu compressor and output stage into a single 3U rackmount processor with four carefully selected valves, custom transformers and a fully analogue signal path designed for professional recording, mixing and signal shaping.
The Heritage Audio TUBESTRIP brings together four studio processors into one integrated recording channel that delivers the warmth, depth and harmonic richness associated with classic valve equipment while adding modern flexibility and workflow improvements. Rather than treating each processor as a separate module, Heritage Audio designed the TUBESTRIP as a complete recording instrument, allowing every stage to complement the next.
The entire audio path remains valve driven from input to output, creating consistent analogue character throughout the recording chain. Four carefully selected valves provide the foundation of the circuit, combining NOS valves in the microphone preamp and Vari-Mu compressor with premium JJ valves in the output stage to deliver musical saturation, exceptional detail and impressive headroom.
Unlike hybrid channel strips that combine solid-state and valve circuitry, the TUBESTRIP maintains an all-tube architecture throughout the entire signal chain. Every stage contributes natural harmonic enhancement, smooth transient response and the organic compression that engineers expect from premium valve equipment.
Heritage Audio complements the valve circuitry with four custom-designed transformers positioned at the main input, main output and both the input and output stages of the Vari-Mu compressor. These transformers add additional depth, low-frequency authority and classic analogue colour while maintaining excellent signal integrity.
At the front end of the TUBESTRIP sits a unique valve microphone preamp that introduces Heritage Audio's morphing capability. Rather than providing a single tonal character, the preamp allows engineers to move between different valve responses, making it suitable for a wide variety of microphones, instruments and line-level sources.
The flexible design allows the preamp to capture everything from transparent recordings through to richer vintage textures, making it equally effective for vocals, acoustic instruments, electric guitars, bass, keyboards, drum microphones and stereo room recordings.
The integrated equaliser uses an inductor-based design inspired by some of the most sought-after classic studio equalisers. Inductor circuits produce broad, musical curves that allow engineers to make significant tonal adjustments while preserving the natural balance of the original performance.
The EQ shapes recordings with precision while maintaining clarity and avoiding the harshness that can accompany more clinical equaliser designs. It works seamlessly with the surrounding valve circuitry to produce polished recordings directly during tracking.
Dynamic control comes from a genuine valve Vari-Mu compressor based around a full Lang P.LANE circuit. Heritage Audio incorporates the sought-after Seawell mode as standard, allowing the compressor to produce everything from gentle level control to rich vintage compression with exceptional musicality.
The compressor responds smoothly to transients, making it particularly effective for lead vocals, bass guitar, acoustic instruments and mix bus duties where natural dynamics remain essential.
Alongside the traditional Vari-Mu operation, the TUBESTRIP includes a fixed Mode 1B that delivers transparent compression using a single control. This simplified operation allows engineers to achieve polished dynamic control quickly without sacrificing audio quality.
The streamlined workflow makes the unit particularly useful during recording sessions where speed matters as much as sound quality.
The built-in de-essing function reduces excessive vocal sibilance while preserving the natural tone of the performance. Rather than requiring additional outboard equipment or software processing, the TUBESTRIP controls harsh consonants directly within the recording chain, producing cleaner vocal recordings from the source.
A dedicated output control allows engineers to optimise gain staging while driving the output valves and transformers to achieve the desired amount of analogue character. This flexibility makes it easy to balance clean recordings with subtle or more pronounced valve saturation.
The unit occupies three rack spaces and features a robust chassis weighing 7.6 kg, making it suitable for demanding professional studio environments. A built-in universal power supply ensures reliable operation worldwide without requiring external voltage converters.
