With its 10-band filter bank, the Spectravox creates vibrant drones and tonal sweeps, enriching any external sound with resonant depth and psychedelic spectral movement. When connected to a microphone, this instrument transitions seamlessly into a 10-band analogue vocoder, featuring dynamic modulation across all filters.

Advanced Sound Processing Capabilities

Spectravox revisits and expands the principles of vocoders and filter banks. Unlike previous fixed filter banks, Spectravox's filters are not static; they dynamically navigate the frequency spectrum. This functionality allows for creating unique voltage-controlled spectral animations and vibrant phaser-like effects. Each filter's adjustable resonance can transition from subtle precision to expansive choral sounds, transforming familiar tones into novel sonic experiences.

Fully Integrated Synthesizer Voice

As a standalone unit, the Spectravox boasts a robust internal sound generation system, including a dense analogue Moog oscillator and a white noise generator. The integrated XLR/jack input transforms it into a comprehensive 10-band vocoder equipped with a secondary filter bank for analysing the spectral characteristics of incoming sounds. Whether shaping the built-in oscillator with vocal dynamics or animating guitar chords with a drum machine, the Spectravox offers limitless creative potential.

Innovative Design Inspired by Legacy

Drawing inspiration from the pioneering vocoding work of Bob Moog and Wendy Carlos in the 1960s, the Spectravox incorporates 10 state-variable filters that can shift frequencies under internal or external control. This design enables the emphasis of vowel sounds through its Hiss and Buzz functions, echoing the historic Moog 16 Channel Vocoder while pushing the boundaries of analogue filter technology.

Extensive Integration and Sound Exploration

The Spectravox includes individual patch points for each filter in its bank, accompanied by patch cables to facilitate integration with digital synthesizers and other sound sources. Its extensive patch bay enhances connectivity with Moog semi-modular instruments and Eurorack modules, providing comprehensive control over nearly all parameters.
