Moog Music is a musical instrument manufacturer based in Asheville, North Carolina, USA, specialising in producing analogue synthesisers, theremins, and other electronic musical instruments. The company was founded by Dr. Robert Moog in 1953, who was a pioneer in the field of electronic music.

Robert Moog was born in 1934 in New York City and showed an early interest in electronics and music. He studied physics and electrical engineering at Queens College and Columbia University, earning a PhD in engineering physics in 1965. While studying at Columbia, Moog began experimenting with building his own electronic musical instruments, and in 1964, he introduced the Moog modular synthesizer, which revolutionized the field of electronic music.

The Moog modular synthesizer was the first commercially available synthesizer. It allowed musicians to create various sounds and textures previously impossible to achieve with traditional acoustic instruments. The Moog synthesizer quickly became popular among musicians, and it was used on many iconic recordings of the 1960s and 1970s, including albums by the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Stevie Wonder.

In 1971, Moog Music introduced the Minimoog synthesizer, a smaller, more affordable version of the Moog modular synthesizer. The Minimoog became one of the most popular and influential synthesizers of all time, and it has been used by countless musicians in a wide range of genres.

Moog Music underwent several ownership and management changes over the years, but the company has remained committed to producing high-quality analogue synthesizers and other electronic musical instruments. In 2002, the company was purchased by a group of investors, and it moved its headquarters to Asheville, North Carolina. Today, Moog Music continues to innovate in the field of electronic music, and its instruments are used by musicians all over the world.
