API Audio has been at the forefront of American analogue recording technology since the late 1960's. Founded in 1969 by Lou Lindauer and Saul Walker in New York City, API earned a reputation for punchy, forward sound and uncompromising build quality.
Best known for its legendary discrete 2520 discrete opamp circuitry and iconic 500 Series format, which has since become a global standard for modular audio processing.
API consoles were installed in major studios like The Hit Factory, Sunset Sound, and Decca, as well as broadcasting giants ABC, CBS, and the BBC. API remains a cornerstone of professional studios around the world.
Saul Walker was awarded the Technical Grammy Award in 2019 for his lifetime contributions.
